Making a real promise to yourself that you’re going to stop the excuses and get real with your fitness goals is a big step. Unfortunately, that big step is just the first of many, many more required to make those goals a reality.
The road you’re walking doesn’t come without pitfalls, and we’ve seen even the most determined people fall off their path. We don’t want you to make the same mistakes those people may have made, so we’ve put together a list of 3 mistakes you might be making on your path to hitting your fitness goals.
The Rationalizing
“I had a rough day; I deserve this dough nut.”
“I ran this morning, so I can have this candy bar. And also this one, too.”
You’re great at justifying the things you want and it’s holding you back. Burning 200 calories at the gym doesn’t mean you should eat 700 calories at McDonald’s. It might help you to have a ten minute rule. When you catch yourself rationalizing something like this, take ten minutes to think it over, drink some water, and decide what’s really best for you.
The Cardio Fiend
“I don’t want to get bulky.”
“No. Nope. I don’t want massive muscles, so I’ll stick to the treadmill. Thank you very much.”
Ladies, please trust me when I tell you that the fastest way to get the results you’re looking for is to learn to love strength training. It’s your friend. You cannot get bulky lifting weights. Let’s say it together. “You cannot get bulky lifting weights.” If you lift weights and wake up tomorrow morning looking like She-Hulk, please come find us so we can write down exactly what you did. Ask us for help if you don’t know how to get started or want to know more about a machine – we’re here to help.
The Distr- Oh! A Butterfly!
“I’m starting a new diet. Only mangos for 37 days.”
“This new workout was designed by Marines. It’s the hottest new thing.”
You may have a hard time sticking with any one diet/fitness program. You jump ship as soon as you don’t see immediate results. Like anything good, fitness takes work and patience. Persistence pays off in the end, and the results will come. It might not always be easy or fun, but it will pay off. If you need help finding a consistent, simple program for you, let us help.
