Like so many people, Tracy was intimidated about starting a workout plan and joining another gym.
“I was a mom, a wife, a good employee, and a loyal friend. I never made myself a priority or made time for myself and my exterior and attitude showed it, there is a lot to be said about making time for yourself!”
Still, she knew she wanted to make a positive change. “I would start the process of trying to lose weight, I did Weight Watchers, fad diets, Insanity (workout), and would start at a new gym at first things would start to work, but long term it would never stick.” Tracy told us, “I would gain back what I lost and maybe even a bit more, I would then become discouraged and stop/give up. I also didn’t have much energy at the end of the day after doing my mom duties and cleaning the house. When it came time to go to the gym, I could run on a treadmill, ride the stationary bike, and do the stair stepper, but when it came to weights, I was overwhelmed and intimidated so I never used them.
I just knew things needed to change. I was gaining weight and I didn’t like how I felt and looked. My children are getting older and they didn’t need me as much, so I had that “me” time I needed. I also wanted to be around to see my children graduate, get married and have their own kids, and the path I was on wasn’t going to give me that chance.”
The same fears that a lot of people experience, also plagued Tracy. Was joining the gym going to be like all the other gyms? Would she feel intimated and stop going? Would she really get the help and guidance she needed to be successful?
“I had heard it before and I needed this gym to be different. If I am honest, I was very nervous at first to talk to the trainers and ask for their help/opinion. But that was the awesome thing about this gym, they did not let you just walk in and be alone, they would acknowledge you by name (wow they knew my name) and they would inquire and genuinely care about you, they became your friend.”
Tracy has impressive stats after her first year here at Complete Fitness. She’s lost 30 pounds of body fat, cut a total of almost 14 inches, and gained 10 pounds of muscle! “I have some arm definition – NEVER thought that I could have that. I also have lost some in my mid-section and just feel more toned. The way my clothes fit is changing. I actually at times feel skinny – WOW!”
What’s Next?
Tracy isn’t one to settle. She has big goals to tackle next. “I am finding my love of running again. I have run 2 marathons in the past and have said I would never run another one. It might be fun to see what a marathon would look like healthy and in shape. Did I just use the word fun and marathon in the same sentence?”
Congratulations on your hard work Tracy. We love your enthusiasm and commitment. You’re a great inspiration and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
