One way our trainers like to add challenge and variation to the traditional burpee is to utilize different types of equipment. The BOSU adds an element of instability. At the end of the movement, picking up the BOSU and taking it over the head adds challenge and involves both the arms and the shoulders. It’s total body move that gets your heart rate up. Start by putting the BOSU dome side down. Squat and place your hands on either side of the BOSU, keeping your abs engaged. In an explosive movement, jump your feet back so you’re in a pushup position. Jump back to starting position and, keeping those abs tight and hips back, stand up with the BOSU and press it over head. Lift with good form, initiating the movement from the legs rather than the back. Repeat for 10-20 reps.
